National Container CompanyNational Container Company (NCC) is the leading container terminal operator in Russia and CIS. NCC develops the network of sea and inland container terminals providing customers with container handling services that combine world-class standard terminal operations with state-of-the-art technology. The company was founded in 2002 and at the time of its startup was the first dedicated container operator to emerge in Russia. The Group of companies First Quantum and the Transport Group FESCO own NCC on parity basis. The corporate headquarters is located in Moscow. NCC’s terminals: First Container Terminal (FCT, St. Petersburg) is the largest container terminal in the sea port of Saint-Petersburg and the leader in container handling within Russian Federation and the Baltic with the current throughput capacity of 1,1 M TEU and the possibility for expansion up to 1.6 M TEU. Container Terminal NUTEP (Novorossiysk) has the current throughput capacity of 130 000 TEU and the perspective of growth up to 550 000 TEU. Container Terminal Ukrtranscontainer (UTC, Illichivsk, Ukraine) is the most modern container terminal in Ukraine with the current throughput capacity of 850 000 TEU and the possibility for expansion up to 4 M TEU. Logistika-Terminal (Shushary, Saint Petersburg), off-dock container terminal and logistics center is located 17 km to FCT and will have the capacity of 200,000 TEU per annum. Ust-Luga Container Terminal (ULCT, Leningrad region) is the largest container terminal project with the planned capacity of 3M TEU. NCC started construction of a new container terminal in Ust-Luga port in April 2007. Built from scratch ULCT will be the most technologically advanced facility in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. NCC’s strategy is aimed at the development of an integrated network of container terminals to match the growing needs of the Russian economy. The company realizes the most noticeable investments projects which include development of the existing Russian and Ukrainian container terminals and greenfield construction of new modern terminals. Today NCC group employs more than 2000 people in Russia and Ukraine. The aggregated throughput of NCC’s terminals in 2008 amounted to about 1.2M TEU. |
