Introduction

National Container Company will provide at its Seaport Terminal the services mentioned hereinafter in an efficient and prudent manner, and in accordance with the terms and conditions set in this document and instructions of the Shipping Lines.

This booklet summarises the basic information and requirements in order to operate at all NCC Seaport Terminals. For further details please contact Customer Service.

Definitions

  • Container Terminal:

The land and premises used by the Terminal Operator at its ports .

  • Rates / Tariffs:

The prices charged by NCC for the use of premises, works, or appliances and for services or facilities provided.

  • Container Ship:

A ship fitted for the carriage of Containers, Non-standard Containers where under-deck lashing is not required and uncontainerised Cargo of which the Line is the Owner, Charterer or Disponent Owner.

  • Container:

Any standard ISO Containers 20' or 40' in length including e.g. flat racks, platforms, reefer and tank Containers, consistent with the safety requirements of CSC plates (Convention for Safe Containers), and which can be handled by means of Container spreader.

Container that must be handled with the use of special attachments to the spreader.

    Cargo:

Containers or Cargo accepted for transport / carriage on a Container Ship which cannot be handled by means of normal use of Container spreader even with special attachments.

  • Cargo:

Articles of any kind whatsoever transported or to be transported in a Container.

  • Hazardous Cargo:

Articles of any kind classified by the International Maritime Organisation, (IMO), as hazardous for the people and/or the environment.

Services at the Seaport Terminals

The services offered and performed at the NCC Seaport Terminals and by which these terminals and NCC are responsible, are exclusively relating to :

  • Receiving/delivering of containers and cargoes
  • Loading/discharging of vessels
  • Operational handling of containers and cargoes
  • Storage of containers and cargoes
  • Checking and controlling of apparent conditions of containers and cargoes
  • Guarding of containers and cargoes

General liabilities on services

National Container Company and its Seaport terminals are the only responsible for all the operations and services rendered within its terminals.

In order to safeguard the security and safety, only the following personnel is authorized to work within the seaport terminals :

  • Personnel and employees of NCC and its Seaport Terminals
  • Personnel of sub-contractors of NCC and/or its Seport Terminals
