Ukrtranscontainer (Illichivsk, Ukraine)

In August, 2005 NCC, the founder and owner of Ukrtranscontainer (UTC), entered the Ukrainian market and signed a joint operation agreement with Sea Commercial Port of lllichivsk which committed UTC to invest $ 500M in expansion and development of container terminal in this port.

What really set UTC apart from other terminals in the region is that starting from Spring, 2007 an extended number of deep sea carriers were enabled to launch direct services from China and deploy vessels with in-take capacity up to 5,100 TEU. Same became possible after UTC – for the first time in history of contemporary shipping in Ukraine – introduced and successfully implemented a system of fixed berthing windows.

  • Reefer storage capacity - 606 plugs
  • Throughput capacity – 850,000 TEU per year

UTC is equipped with:

  • 5 STS cranes inc. 2 Post-Panamax (Tarkaf, Fantuzzi Reggiane) with lifting capacity up to 45 tons 
  • 3 RMG cranes with lifting capacity up to 35 tons
  • 10 RTG cranes (Konecranes)  with lifting capacity up to 50 tons
  •  9 straddle carriers with lifting capacity up to 35 tons

The list of UTC’s customers includes world leading shipping lines - Maersk Line, MSC, ZIM, Whan Hai, PIL, CSAV Norasia, China Shipping.

After the accomplishment of “4M” program, by 2020 the terminal capacity will have amounted to 4M TEU per annum, and Ukrtranscontainer will have become the largest container terminal in the Black Sea region.
